Values

Values

As a Donovan scholar and a veteran teacher, I believe in a community-based, family-oriented, full-service school with a strong academic focus. I know the importance of teaching the "whole child" in partnership with families and the community. I have seen firsthand how all students can succeed when a school combines a strong academic focus with joy and family support.

Teaching Environment

When teaching I establish a classroom climate where all of my students' cultures and experiences are represented and celebrated in the classroom. My lesson plans are designed around my students' lives and allow them to showcase their strengths and celebrate mistakes as a learning opportunity.

I develop a positive relationship with all my students and families to know them as individual learners and people. To do this, I establish strong communication at the beginning of the year, regardless of language or any other barriers. I use my positive relationships to leverage student engagement and grow self-identity.
